Nabbed a Big Cat on what we call "the secret" although its far from a secret..i love chicken livers...this kitty was 7lbs 9oz and 26" long..turned it to DEP for a catch and release trophy and should be gettin my pin soon...love me some cats..i find as long as the tide is moving and you can keep from gettin snagged up you can catch em

CT DEP has a "trophy fish award program"...theres two catergories...Catch and Release and for if u keep the fish...theres requirments for each category..for a Channel Cat to be a "catch and Release trophy" it needs to be 22 inches long..you take a picture with you and the fish...a picture with the fish next to a mesuring tape so the numbers can be clearly read...fill out the affidavit (which you can get on the DEP website) and mail in the pics and the affidavit...it takes a little while but eventually they send you a certificate and a pin...first 5 pins are bronze..then next 5 are silver then after that gold..if you get enough throughout the year they invite you to a fishing expo where they have an awards ceremony..you get to meet alot of people from the sate that fish its cool...got a bunch last year...and my roommate actualy won the "largest Catch and Release Channel Cat" award at the ceremony..check it out

Nice cat. I always forget about that pin program. Should have sent this one in.

Caught it striper fishing the CT river in May. We had 3 big cats with one coming close to the above. This one was just under 11bs on the boga.
