Hey folks, just became a member and am introducing myself. Found the site when googling Penfield Reef to get some info on it. Nice to see a site around for us that's still free. Belonged to another well known local site and hadn't visited in a while only to find out on my last visit I must now pay.
So, I'm from Waterbury, a firefighter and I have a boat docked in the Housatonic. I have been trying to find some good spots to go fishing for some time now and have been getting frustrated. The river has only produced a huge brown bullhead up by Sunnyside park and eels while I have taken my father in law and he just caught what had to be a ten lb blue at the mouth by brewers marina while I was skunked.....again.
Tried fishing in bridgeport harbor on the fourth as a coworker just took a charter out of there last week and he said all they did was drift around the last can and fish. Nothing there for me either. Only thing I almost caught was the ferry. Tried crabbing with the kids, nothing doing down that avenue either. Getting to be more and more of a frustrating experience all around.
Looking forward to browsing the site. I'm open to take people out on the boat as well, it's a 29' so plenty of room.
TTYL folks.

Thanks! I see tons of people fishing there all the time so it must be a good place but unfortunately where I would have to anchor up to get out of the way of those casting lines from shore would be right in the middle of the channel and it's a pretty high traffic area so that wouldn't be cool. Next time I head out I'm going to try Penfield Reef. |
