Went fishing at the ferry launch for a couple hours today, caught a few cats, a few silver perch, and a few other small fish. The catch of the day was my pretty large small mouth bass. It weighed in at a little under 2 pounds, 1 pound 14 oz. Jumped all over the place, good fight.

Tried fishing there one night...Never saw the no fishing after dark sign. Then the good ole rocky hill pd informed us in a very loud and bright fashion. Must have been a slow night for them.

I'm pretty sure it closes at sunset. There is a small sign right before you step on the dock that is barely readable. The officer had to point it out after I said it was not posted.

Hey as far as I know you can fish the river at night it's just that some of the launches close. I never got bothered. That's a beauty and pretty long!
I know that everyone wants the big fish but if you ever get the chance and run into a school of them "Hickory Shad" are awsome for a small fish. I think the state record is only 2.4lb's but they fight like a 10lb fish and if you hit a school and anchor your arms will get tired from these little beasts.
Stripers are my favorite, too bad we can't use alewives anymore. Ever fish up at the power plant in hartford? Big fish that feel like they are being cooked, in your hands they feel like they must be 120 degrees. I'm surprised they can breathe in that warm water. Cool
