|
|
Went by Saint Mary's in bpt today. Threw some plugs for a while. Caught nothing. Talked to some people who got some schoolies on sandworms, a 24" blue on a popper and a short bass on a bomber. Lots of ppl there today not much catching though.
Drove by Penfield reef. Too crazy there for me to fish. Wind and surf was brutal.
Went to Tide mill and fished for a while as the sun came down with eels. Nothing there. Then i decided to try ash creek. Talked to 3 guys on their way out who had no action. Around my 5th cast i got a wack on my eel. Ended up being about a 27" Striper by my boot measure. Swallowed the hook so i cut the line and revived him and sent him home. Then i walked up to the car to re rig, came back and on my second and 3rd cast got hits again on the same eel. Missed the fish though. About 10 or 12 casts later, BAM! Fish on and peeling drag. Landed him after running about 4 times really hard. Walked him up to the car because it was an obvious keeper but decided i was just going to take a pic of him.

I walked him back down to the water and spent about 10 minutes reviving him. He finally took off running.
Now i have no more eels so i decide to go home. I get in the car and pull off when i start to hear a tapping sound from outside the car which comes and goes. Then my rod goes BAM!!! I'm like wtf is that? I get home and pull my rods out of the car and notice my rig is missing from my rod. I look down to find this....
A 7/0 Bait hook in my tire!!! Snapped me off !!!!
Gonna be a good laugh at the tire shop tomorrow A.M.
BTW i measured my rod when i got home and that striper was 36"-37" !!!
Not bad for a freshwater bass pole w 10lb line. |

I think that beats the Striper ripping my whole brand new rod into the water this year. I didn't think anyone would top it. Can't wait to hear the cracks you get at the tire shop lol. _________________ Better things happen at night! |

Went back w my friend last night. There were fish breaking for a steady 3 hrs. Only managed 1 fish around 26". Must have been some kind of hatch going on or the fish were all too small to take eels. I was really surprised we didnt kill it. The previous night i think i only saw 1 fish break in an hour. |
