Went out yesterday for about 2.5 hours. I threw a Texas rigged senko, watermelon colored. I did pretty well. Nothing too big, decent size. A lot of the guys I saw on the water and talked to said the big fish seem to be gone even more this year, which is sad because I caught a 17 and a 20in largemouth last year. The bite really picked up right toward the end.

I did catch a huge pumpkinseed. It was big enough my 7 year old daughter told me to weigh it. It was 8oz, and without a doubt the biggest pumpkinseed I ever caught. She also netted one of my bass hat was hung up in some laydowns! She handled the net like a pro!

Between trying to manage my daughter needing to pee, and other times I needed to stop, I managed 6 fish in about 2.5 hours.

What is the size limit there

Maybe its time to change the keeper limit t a lower length for a year...

I think thats a great idea. Unless every angler I talk to is lying, the fish keep geeting smaller each year and thats a bass management lake.

I see it as filling a fish tank with young bass or gold fish for that matter.

They will only grow as big as the space around them.

I forget if it was mamanasco or one of those other small lakes (ponds) which have always held a lot of small fish BUT, I did manage to catch a 2lber.

I went over to Mamy for the 1st time today after work for about a half hour. Stood on the rocks by the boat launch. Not much action. One 12 incher was it on a Zoom yellow/black frog. They didn't even touch my GY Seko's!

My experience with Bass Management lakes is soooo mixed. I live around the corner from Kenosia for 6 years and fish it whenever I don't feel like driving far. I usually catch 1 to 1.5 lb fish there. Like 5 at a time. But lately from the beach I'm catching largemouth from 3 to 4.5 lbs. I was convinced there weren't any big bass here. I guess you just have to go find them. I would suppose the same for Mamanasco. My buddy and I are gonna bring the canoe over there on Saturday morning and give it a shot.

Where is the hot spot on Mamy? The islands look promising. Any idea what the depths are?

soto

Here's some bathymetric data for Mamanasco Lake from the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station:

Good luck!

haha u said seko!

Bass Management lakes are not that well managed in my opinion.

Though just like Kenosia and many others you just need to FIND them.

Yes the islands are a good place to start. Also on the far end of the lake there are some lilly pads and some good laydowns. I have only been there once this year. I caught a 20, and a 17 incher there last summer, so I am hoping its a matter of getting there more. Its only about 10 feet deep, so I am hoping there was not a big fishkill as was happening some other places following this winter.
