Went out with a friend fluking

3 fluke, 2 shorts and one keeper 20" on double, sliding upper hook fluke rigs with whole squid

one spiny dogfish on the fluke rig

My friend got 3 scup, a spiny, a skate, 1 fluke short.

Nice super calm day out on the sound.

I want to get a fluke this year. Do you know of any good spots to go from shore?

Try cini park in east lyme, right next to the black hawk charter boat. 3 way a squid strip with a about 2-3 oz of lead. or try bouncing a buck tail off the bottom.

new for this year, there is Summer Flounder SHORE Fishing Sites, fish caught here only need to be 17", but you can only keep one. The sites are listed in the anglers guide for 2011.

thats the danm politicians tellinn us how to fish its bad enough that if ur lucky to hook into some fluke from shore u could only keep one totall BS if u ask me lets let the guys on the boats that can rape and pillage anytime they want but from shore ur only allowed to keep one.....HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE???
maybe i should try a kiddie arm floats and swim out like this i could keep 3 at 19.5..
p.s on another note how the F**** do they allow draggers so close to shore i went flukin yesterday and there were 3 draggers all with nets inthe water from fishers up to misqumicut no wonder all i catch are shorts these knucklehead politicians need to take there heads out of there asses and step back and annalize the situation!!!! Huh Question

R.I. has a 7 Fluke limit (18.5 inches)

Ct. has a 3 Fluke limit (18.5 inches) -> And 1 Fluke for shore fishermen can be at reduced size (17 inches) in designated fishing areas. You can still catch 2 more as long as they are at or over 18.5 inches.

NY has a 3 Fluke limit (20.5 inches)

Where are you fishing and where are you getting your info Question
I do think though that Ct. and NY should set equal size minimums !

And RI should have the same creel.

Seadog,
the description in the anglers' guide is quite vague, half the stuff is, just says

• New for 2011: Fish taken from SHORE
FISHING SITES ONLY at a designated
summer flounder (fluke) reduced size
limit (minimum length)
fishing access
site listed in Appendix A* shall not be
less than 17 inches (Total Length) and
the Daily Creel Limit is 1 fish. Please see
this page for Appendix A (Designated
Summer Flounder SHORE Fishing Sites).

Reading that appears that your right, just wish they added two fish of 18.5" may be kept.

If you can catch a 17" and two 18.5" fluke from shore Godbless you.
