Hey guys...first post besides my newbie post.

Sorta new to Ct. grew up bass fishing on nothign but shiners my entire life. Up in beacon falls now where i know the trout and salmon fishing is fantastic...but im such a rook in that area its not even funny.

So any way for my first fishing report in the history of history..i checked out maltby lakes and the seymour reservoirs over the past coule weeks with just acoule of butes and no luck.

Mind you im not very experienced fishing with out live bait. I used spinners and power worms texas rigged) couple of bites in both places but nothing landed.

Checked out Toby pond right next to my apartment last night and tonight.....last night i hit two LMB on a texas rigged 7 inch power worm from power bait ...it was a black and sorta purple color at around 830 pm about 4 feet from shore in 3 feet of water. First one was about 15 inches and the second i hit in the same spot in the next cast but it was my previous ones lil brother...maybe 8 inches.

So i know th trout fishing around me is fantastic so i tried my rookie hand at that in the naugy......after a lil while i went back to Toby pond right to the same spot i was in the night before and was there for about an hour and ran the same rig with a darker worm and had three botes but couldnt land the fish...then switched back to the same power worm from the night before and landed a 14 incher on the second cast took a pic with my phone but still dont know how to post it.

was just fishing in the shallows from the shore with my head lamp and some cold ones.

sorry for my lengthy first post...ive learned so much from all of u just reading the boards already...
Cheers and gdnight all..happy fishing

- Jake

Nice report Jake.

IMHO theres no better bass lure than shiners Very Happy and other than that I like to use senkos because they just flat out catch em.
I usually only target bass when ice fishing but since I got my kayak I am getting more into bass fishing. If you need any tips for catching trout I've been doing that for years and the real fun comes in the summer and the fall catching Striped Bass out in LIS. Best of luck! Keep the reports coming!

Your report is not lengthy...have you seen any of PECo's reports Razz

Lengthy is good. It gives more info that way. Nice job and keep on fishing!

thanks guys.

Yea Slim i used to live in stratford right at the mouth of the housy...strippers and blues were GREAT out there...we had a big ol pier that we'd secure our rods to the railing and usually jsut run some sand worms...couldnt beat it.

Im for sure looking to get a anglers kayak at some point. From reading the boards here for a few weeks it seems like thats the way to go...never even been in a kayak though so im not sure how that would go haha
