im looking for a spot to fish for channel cats from the shore in the enfield area. I have caught them under the dexter coffin bridge but its so sketchy down there at night. Im willing to drive about a half hour. Anyone have any ideas?

Go to lower bolton lake, these are safe to eat and there some over 5 pounds in there.

can you fish from the boat launch?

Yeah and both dams. The area to the right of the launch is open to fishing, and to access the northern dam between middle and lower bolton is a small turn off of quarry/vernon/ bolton rd. its the road across from the post office off of rt 44,

Its getting quite popular down there, its 24 hours fishing there.

DEP article about channel cat lakes in ct, lower bolton and the lake in hartford are the closest.

Theres some decent bass in there as well. though I seem to never get them in there. The northern dam is a good spot for bass too.

The Thompsonville boat launch is an excellent place to catch channels.
