Fished Candlewood Lake yesterday 06/13/2011 in preparation for this weekends upcoming tournament. I'll save my report for after the tournament, but we had a great day even with a late start!
My catch of the day included my personal best since I've started fishing again the past 2 years.
20.5" - 4.5 lb Large Mouth Bass

Peco-he is not gonna tell anyone what he was using, what depth etc because he has a tournament this weekend. Nice fish btw....if you really want to go full titl you should photo shoppe the background out of your pics..that will really go over well here...
Johnny
ps the reason i mentioned the photot shop thing was not to pick on you, just to remind everyone of someone who used to do that on this site... _________________ I love rippin on the river!

Exactly! No need to photoshop the background because 3/4 of the lake looks like that...I did however crop out some identifiers |

Ok for this late report.
On the water 10:30 am (late start).
Overcast lower 70's for air temp, water still holding right about 74 degrees. Wind was calm and we were off!
Good fishing throughout the day many average small and a few decent size large mouths. Fish were holding in anywhere from 8-14 feet of water in a variety of locations. Caught smallies from the mouth of coves to the middle of high weeds in the middle of the lake. We were using RNR5 sized red crank baits, mepps size 5 in bright colors, and the all purpose 5" senkos (watermelon w no flake, pumpkin w black flake, and similar) all in a texas rig.
My PB fish pictured was pulled from a shallow weeded area in the Danbury bay and promptly returned. |

See the tourney thread for full details, but 15/21 for placement, caught our limit did ok for a first time tournament fishing. Still lots to learn for the big bass!
It was interesting to hear that some tournament guys were reporting bass on beds just days before the tournament. If you notice in my picture, my bass is still freshly injured from bedding. |
