Hi 130,
Might I suggest you 1st need to decide where you plan to do most of your fishing.
For lake, pond, and River fishing -> a standard 12-16 ft aluminum/fiberglass boat would serve you well.
For bigger waters, L. I. sound, and open ocean, a boat with high sides is needed.
FYI; Be wary of any used motor that comes with a used boat -> have it mechanically checked out before buying !

Hi 130,
Nice looking boat.
But as a marine surveyor I'm a bit suspicious of it.
Looks too clean and the engine has no decals or name on it.
Amazing what some paint can do to make it look good or hide defects.
Your really going to have to go up and look at it very carefully.
FYI:
1. Run you hands over as much of the hull inside and out as possible to detect flaws.
2. If the boat has an inner core -> it may have been compromised and contain water.
3. Look for crazings or blisters in the fiberglass and if painted over -> walk away !
4. Ask if you can see the boat and motor tested/run in water.
There are a number of other things, but this should be of the most help.
Best regards,

|
|
I use this site a lot for searching for boats and boat stuff...
http://www.ctboatsonline.com/
There are direct links to craigslist and several other boat sale sites
"Don't forget...a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into"....lol
I've owned a few over the years....I was hooked after the first....
Sometimes you are better off spending a little more for a "nice" one unless you are handy....
I've had good times on $700 boats...used it for a season fixed it up and sold for $1400 the next....
Good luck
And since you are a believer (I am assuming based on your profile) I recommend praying about it (he knows more than you and I) and the wife's approval (if married) always helps...
