bluegillterminator..........................no scale was used and the fish was never actually weighed. Its 9lb weight was estimated using the length x girth method.
not sure how accurate this method is.

It's terribly inaccurate. I used six different fish calculators that I found on google and all of them were different. The calculated weights ranged from 8.5lbs to 11.5lbs. And it's obvious that this fish doesnt come close to 10lbs.

My general guess of this fish's weight would probably be more around 8-9lbs. I only put 9lbs because I cant get an extremely good look at the fish's girth, and if it is evenly fat, it weighs around 9lbs. But to me, it doesn't look evenly fat, it only looks like it is bulging with eggs, with not much other bulk. That would put a 23.5" fish at a little over 8lbs.

I probably would have weighed her, because I'm OCD that way. But I really appreciate that Johnny was trying to limit the amount of stress he put on her. A few good photos of me with her is what I'd want to get the most.

Funny, the thought just occurred to me that I'd rather have a photo of me holding up a 10 pound largemouth bass that I just caught than a photo of me with any celebrity you could name. Very Happy

I'm aware it wasn't close to 10 pounds. I just think it was around 9. either a little more or a little less, 19.5 inch girth is pretty damn fat if you ask me..

Johnny,

Very nice fish... I am impressed. Congrats...!

I just hope that no one goes there and tries to catch her just to have her mounted.

Thank you very much. I hope that it does not happen. I almost guarantee nobody will due to all the boat traffic for jetskiing, tubing.etc now thats summer is kicking off, and not much people fish it like I do.

Talked to my grandfather about going down there together this weekend, mentioned this fish to him and the concern everyone is expressing here. Apparently there isn’t much of a boat launch, you have to drive down a dirt road through a neighborhood to get to a small ramp…which is basically right between two houses, with no parking. Would be pretty difficult to sneak in there with a bass boat, and then good luck hiding your truck & trailer lol

There is only one way to get a bass boat or big boat in their and thats if you know somebody that owns a house on it. the only way you could legally fish it would be if you were a resident of either woodstock or eastford and went to this park that you can fish from shore or launch a canoe or kayak.
