nice fish..........sadly you will start seeing alot more people there now the cat has been let out of the bag. Just hope it isnt the bucket burgade. Internet is good for somethings but not good for others. Catching a 9lber in CT is like winning the lotto. Its amazing you have caught this fish three times and have recorded its weight and such along the way. |

as he said it's pretty much a private lake, you are supposed to own property there or be the guest of a resident in order to use the lake. _________________ PB's:

I actually sent the pictures the to norwich bulletin and every thursday there is a outdoors article and my picture with the bass will be on it and a story about it and how catch and release is a good thing. Its a good thing its a private lake though |

In complete agreement with hoppy...I wouldn't share that info on a public site. I might tell some trusted C&R people in private, but there are too many people reading & not contributing here. Some of them would take that bass, then sell it/eat it with no remorse.
Also...I don't have a record, I mostly stay out of trouble...but I'll risk a trespassing charge/my life for a decent shot at a fish like that, without hesitation. I can't be the only one who immediately checked Google maps to find out where Eastford is. _________________ Kira

I think it is fantastic you caught that fish and even better that your released it. that shows what kind of sportsman you trully are and many of us only dream of catching that size bass here in CT waters. Love me or hate me but i usually say it how it is. Where it was caught should have been kept under tite lip and in now way shape or form would i have an article in any paper as to where that fish was caught. Catch and release works......yes it sure does and a picture of that fish the three times youy caught it would have been all the proof needed.
But to name the lake???? ouch. I think i know a guy, who knows another guy, that nows a guy, and he has a third cousin that lives on that lake!! see where im going with this?? |

Giving out the name of the lake shouldn't be that much of a problem, unless people arent aware of what is in our lakes around the state. Sure, you may have a gem on your hands, but it is very likely that it is just like all of the other good bass lakes in Ct.
Just about every lake in the state with reasonably good sized bass will hold a lunker about the size of the fish you caught. The thing is, these fish just dont get caught. Occasionally, you will see a 9lbr from Cwood, but not much more than that. They are out there, and you dont need to trade an arm and a leg to get onto this guy's lake to catch one of them.
And you'll be surprised when you find out which lakes can hold these fish. For example, Batterson Park Pond, Coventry Lake...
Nice catch by the way _________________ Catch and release only.
A 4lb bass is not going to grow to 8lbs on your wall.

To what Steve said, Coventry lake holds some real gems, last year recorded two 5Lb LMB and one 6.5Lb, so you know there has to be equvilent or greater size, you just got to know where/when/how to catch/find them lol all kidding aside these were all caught in fall on 3/4 oz booyah pigskin jigs in ozark craw color with netbait paca chunk trailers to match I dont mind sharing |

Ya gotta love the exuberance and idealism of youth. At 45 years old I seem to have lost that some where along the way. Unfortunately, I agree that the name of the lake should have been kept quiet. |

http://www.norwichbulletin.com/sports/hunting/x1293703182/Giant-bass-lures-local-angler#axzz1O7NaRiwg thats the online article and the same thing is in the paper.
That lake is already pressured a lot from all the locals but nobody that i heard of caught that bass, and im just about 100 percent positive nobody will catch that bass until next spring and that will be me again. and to be completly honest i have about 10+ other private ponds that have fish almost equivalent to that big all in eastford and crystal pond isn't even on my top 5. Last year my bestfriends andrew got one that was just a few ounces smaller than mine maybe the same size. |
