Got to the lake at 8 45 and Tyler got hit maybe 25 minutes in on a black jitterbug by a LARGE fish- came unbuttoned- id blame it on drag/over excitement but it was a good sign. 2 casts later and SLURP on the 7in XX frog that has caught me so many fish. I caught a good 4 or 5 fish on the way through this 300 yard area (4-8foot flats/points surrounded by 15-20 fow) I hooked into a hawg as I reached for my phone at 9 55 pm (I checked the time of the missed call I received then) Got the fish to the boat after a sloppy hookset and my netman had a horrible netting job- tried to lift the net when the fish was only half way in- shook the hook and a few swears were SCREAMED at him after he gave me "Its a shitty net lecture" I showed him how to use the net and he got progressively better throughout the night. The fish was well over 5.... Just a basketball shaped fish- had the lights shined on her as she shook off/during the netting attempt.

It was pretty much ON FIRE the whole night, from 9 30 on id say untill we worked "past" the "active" fish and went fishless for a good 40 minutes until I decided to pull a U-turn and fish my way back- yanked in a nice heavy 2 in the slow area again on the slammer slow waked.

Back to the productive area and the fish were just as active busting alewives and trout up top on those shallow points/flats. Missed a few fish on the slammer as they hit lazily but we wound up with 14 fish, 1 was a spinnedbait fish, 2 on the mini slammer, 11 on the 7in xx frog slammer. Missed maybe 4 or 5 hits on my slammer, few misses on the jitterbug, and lunker that got away at the boat.

Best 5 wound up going 16 pounds 5oz- all of which were caught by me BTW. Tylers biggest was a solid 2lb9oz largie on the way back to the ramp. Still not big enough to cull my 5 biggest :salute:
Lunker went 4 2

Wound up sticking 9 of the biggest in the new 100 quart igloo marine 5 day cooler and boy does that thing have some space in it- the livewell system worked great and im very happy with my renovation on the "skaboat" as everyone has been calling it- bowmount/carpeted floor/fish eagle 320/ night lights/ livewell/ wiring with switches and fuses.

If we landed the jitterbug beast and the slammer hawg we woulda had a solid 19+ pound bag I think. Wish there was a tourney there tonite
