| Have been looking at some smaller fishfinder/sonar/gps units to install on my future beach trophy 126 kayak. Any tips or suggestions to help me along the way? |

I really like my Humminbird 385ci Combo Kayak finder:

It comes with a kit for mounting the transducer inside the hull and a dry bag for the battery. Plus, it has internal GPS and the tranducer has a thermometer. And, yes, the thermometer is accurate.

It'll run for at least eight hours on a fully charged battery. It comes with only a very low resolution map, but I don't fish in any lakes where I'd get lost. Navionics has a terrific new iPhone app with charts for only $9.99, anyway.
