I know where youre talking about, and I usually hit that spot up when I go out, but no. I caught all of them on the ramp side ehh... maybe 100-200 yards from the ramp. It was either a school of crappie or I may have just found a bunch of beds. I haven't gotten anything the couple times I've been out since, but I am getting a bunch of tiny bites on the brush hog, probably rock bass.

Okay, now I gotta throw my crappie rig out there. See you in the morning. Very Happy

Went out today and caught my first smallie of the year on a baby brush hog. Not only was it the first of the year, it was my personal best! Very Happy I would put up pics if I knew how... I've never really weighed my fish, but I think it may have been around 4 pounds or a little over.

Nice. Were you fishing a laydown/banging the shore or dragging the bottom?

I started the cast just dragging/banging across the bottom, but maybe 10-15 ft away from the boat I decided to switch rods, so I started reeling with a stead, almost fast, retreive, and it just slammed it real close.

The pics don't really do it justice Razz

I hear that smallies are good eating. They're Billy's favorite. Mine's walleye.

I let it go, I don't eat too many of the fish I catch.
