Went out Saturday morning around 6am. Fished for a few hours on the river from Essex to Old Saybrook. Threw Storm Shad, surface poppers and trolled tubes with no luck.

The water level seemed normal, still a good bit of debris though. Saw a number of other boats and kayaks but didn't see anyone else land anything. We did see some surface swirls and splashes, however they appeared to be carp. Saw a good size one come completely out of the water not 15 feet from the boat in the Old Saybrook area.

Anybody else hit the southern section of the river over the weekend? I'm thinking trying south of the RR bridge next Saturday early AM.

Turtle Kiss and I hit the DEP docks. We were there from 6am to 11am.

We caught some small schoolies on sandworms. 9 fish caught.

Nice to hear some success stories, I agree I hope the weather this week doesn't cool things off too much.

We fished on Saturday south of Hartford. Some herring dimpling, only one keeper at 34" and lots of shorts and 3 big cats. I couldn't get a sniff on artificials. All fish came on live bait.
