It's hard to fish because the barrel ride only lasts a few seconds and it's tough to hold your rod going over the dam in the barrel. trying to cast and reel in your fish is even harder. And then you have the cormorants and herring to worry about, not to mention the muskrats and watersnakes. The bears are the least of your worries. There is a party van "born free" that sometimes has discos that you can go to and get your dance on.

I have been ttrying to catch a keeper striper for a few years now...( I dont go saltwater that often) I have failed fantastically so far. I was looking to go see if derby dam may be the place to go, I think i will stick with what i know especially since Kira says "its far and disgusting"

It's a pain in the ass hr's drive to get there, then when you do you have to risk your life on the rocks. These guys are crazy fishing there at night.

its not too bad, as long as you take your time and look for the dry flat rocks.

50 minutes from your area

You coulf fish the damn, the rocks, the ramp, the sand point

Plenty of area to fish if you have the time to drive the 50min and hang out for 2 - 3 hours

there are fish in all the estuaries and back harbors right now especially where creeks feed into them . I got a keeper in southport last night. You don't have to fish the river which is already crowded out with knuckleheads

Went down there today... skunked. WTF anyways... Its decent place to go and usually the first to get busy beofre anyplace else.... you cant win if you dont play... and you already know you got to learn how to play before you can win too... Its not that bad if you go out on the yak or boat... no one bothers you.... night time, rocks, current, whatever the case my be... Still seen fish. not that many herring but seen few shad in the river at the dam looking around with the bright ass head lamp... found 2 bucktails and a lot of plugs/swimmers... so wasnt a loss.... Seen more fish saturday night into sunday 3am ish
