As for Fairfield County when fishing local I hit the Saugatuck Reservoir. It has been a tough bite there this year. The water levels are super high compared to last year, and you are limited to shore fishing only, that includes no wading.
I have caught trout, largemouth, and smallmouth (which last week I felt were either spawning or prespawning), and perch. You do need a special permit to fish there, and they do check. I have yet to catch a walleye which are supposedly in there, but all the anglers I talk to say they never catch one. |

I just suck at catching them apparently. Its not in my destiny to catch one.
Though I caught dinner for tonight, a 12 in. and 18in. rainbow. |

Its a shame you cant bring a kayak in the saugatuck res, ive never fished it but there has to be some MASSIVE largemouth in there if you really look for them possibly a state record or two |
