Hi All,

I am trying to get back into fishing after about 5 years off and went out for my first time this weekend. I'm from Meriden, originally Wallingford, so I like to stay local and try new lakes/ponds. I tried silver Lake last night and caught nothing but some weeks. With fish on my mind I couldn't sleep this morning so I got up and hit Hanover Pond at about 730 this morning. I fished for about 2 hours right behind the ball fields and didn't catch a thing. I knew there must be fish in this pond so I went out again at about 630 tonight and tried the west side of the pond and did pretty well. I caught a total of 5 fish - two nice size large mouth, 2 smaller ones and a nice yellow perch in about an hours time.

Are there any other good spots in the Meriden area that others frequent?

Look forward to hearing from others in the area.

BTW - I would post a pic but the system says I need three posts. Rolling Eyes

I was also fishing from shore, i was all the way back towards the RR tracks and down the hill, maybe not a great spot. Seemed pretty shallow. I have fished from the grass right when pulling into the lake area and had some luck but that was many years ago. I tried a few different spinner baits, and a swim n jig with/without a shad trailer. There were quite a few people there so there were not an abundance of spots.

You really shouldn't lay the fish down like that. It's not good for them... but nice fish.

Thanks! I normally don't lay a fish down like that but I wanted a picture and didn't have enough hands. I'll figure out a better method for next time.
