I asked the same question last year and everyone told me to not waste my time with Bolton Notch. I haven't gone. The Bolton lakes are almost completely melted and very fishable.

I was at bolton on sunday. Lower was 95% ice free and Middle was about 80%. Let us know how you do at bolton notch.

Upper looks bassy but I've never had any luck there. Middle has been decent close to the launch. Lower is hit or miss.

I have tryed middle and lower, so far nothing. But they both look really good for bass. I aint givin up on this place. The notch had a fish kill and is very shallow. Upper looks about the same. But I think the fish swim the culvert there.

I don't know how big that culvert is, but whenever I paddle through the big double culvert that runs underneath Route 3 between middle and upper Keeney Cove, my finder marks fish on the bottom, underneath all of the crap that's in there.

I wanted to give it ( bolton notch) a shot, im familar with lower bolton. I think the ice killed everything in bolton notch. Hundreds of dead blue gills floating, though saw a pair of wood ducks and a ferret.
I got some decent bass in lower through the ice this year.

It was probably an American mink and not a ferret.

Hi!

I tend to agree with you Phil -> Ferrets are more a dry area animal where as minks will definetly be found near water.

A Fisheries Guide to Lakes and Ponds of Connecticut says that the fishing at Bolton Notch Pond, "Is reportedly fair for largemouth bass, yellow perch and sunfish." The bathymetric map shows that it has a maximum depth of only six feet in two places; near the launch area and on the south end.
