Does anyone know how Bantam is right now? Is there still ice on the lake, and can you launch a boat at the ramp now? My buddy and I want to get out of Friday, but we didn't want to get up there and then find out there is still ice on the lake and/or you can't launch a boat from the ramp.
Any help you guys can provide is greatly appreciated!!

Don't know the conditions, but if you go up there, make sure you don't fish for pike. The season is closed for them on that lake. No steel leaders, no 10" goldies for bait, and no 6" spoons for lures. DEP will give you a ticket (if they even go out there anymore). Also, be aware that they have again posted the "Residents Only" sign at the launch - though I think it is illegal to post or enforce it.

Yeah, Flipper, you and our former CT Attorney General think that it's illegal for the town to restrict access to the launch to "residents only", but since the sign is back up, the town must disagree. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out this year.

I was at the launch Wednesday around 6:30pm. The lake is 90% covered with ice. The launch is under water big time. The water line is up to where the out houses used to be.
The are two different signs at Bantam. Along the right side as you are driving in and on the gate.
The gate sign reads Town of Morris use at your Risk
Along the right side signs read No Parking
I guess its going to be anoth 10 days of good weather until its completely open.
There is still alot of snow cover also |
