Well its that time of year again and with the ice receding from most of the lakes, we'll all be out very soon. With that said, what new baits / techniques is everyone going to try this year? There isn't too much new stuff out but thats alright...

So, what new stuff will you be trying out?

I know we are all just itching for that ice too completely melt.

Nothing really new, but I plan on focusing on my jig fishing, and working on my pitching. Those are too things I would like to focus on this season.
And to add to that I actually custom painted and made some new topwaters and crankbaits, that I'm anxious to try as well.

How about yourself?

I'm planning to spend more than half of my time throwing something other than a wacky Senko. Really. Very Happy

I'm most looking forward to testing out my handpoured plastics. I'm gonna attempt flipping as well. Smile

Going to give drop shotting a try now that I figured out how to tie a darn palomar knot.

I am going to try to catch my first walleye and pike, which will probably force me to use some different tactics.

I plan on trying out a Slow Death technique with some Mustad hooks I won, if I can figure out how to troll off my kayak without a rod holder.

I have promised myself that this year I am going to do 2 things at Hopeville (I go camping there all the time).
1 - I'm going to explore the rest of the lake instead of fishing just my honey hole. This is going to be tough because I know I will be leaving fish to look for others.
2 - This ones for Kira. I'm going to fish the massive lilly pad beds just to see if anything is there. I have not made much of a connection between pike and pads, but I'm gonna give it the old college try!

How can you even resist those pads??? Just go to the Pachaug/Hopeville dam and cast into the stained water from shore if you want pike. I spent most of my time looking for one pike to reach my quota and wish I was targeting bass the whole time. I may go camping there just so I can fish past dark. Here's a refresher of my Hopeville bass:

I'm gonna be using bigger jigs and swimbaits this year in hopes of catching some bigger fish. I'll also be checking out some new campgrounds in hopes of finding some waters with low fishing pressure.

Hi All!

Here's an idea I just read about Exclamation Shocked

Get some very thin velcro tape (Sticky back and what ever color you want) and cut the fuzzy side strip into thin strips or very small patches and apply it to your crankbait, spoon, or spinner.

Add some of your favorite scent to the fuzzy velcro as it will hold the scent for some time and disperse it slowly.

Not a bad idea Exclamation , Though I'm not sure how it may alter the lure action.
Worth a try to see how well it works Exclamation
