I wasn't even a participant in the tourney last year. I fished it, but my partner was just some random guy in a boat. Were you expecting me to be competitive, throw fish in his livewell and bring them to the weigh-in too?
That was seriously a freaking gorgeous 70 degree day. _________________ Kira

THAT's where he lost his custom boat matching rod? I'll have to keep an eye out for it on my finder if I ever get out there. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Phil, the rod went overboard near the lighthouse. I went back the next day and tried trolling for it with some huge neodymium magnets. Didn't recover it, but I found the bass. They start surface feeding everywhere once it gets dark. Went back 3-4 times after that and saw the bite turn on later and later as the water warmed up. The bug situation is unreal at night. Fantastic topwater action.
Silver was weird. It's not usually hard for anyone to catch bass there on any given day, but GEEZ that was tough...1.14 lb for lunker is horrible (my apologies to whoever caught that beast.) My unofficial partner was trying real hard to put me on some fish too...he gave me the front of the boat for a while and even scrapped his afternoon plans so we could stay on the water for 3 more hours. We caught a crappie & a slimedart. I almost feel like I won by not paying to participate in that tourney. _________________ Kira

Here is a pic of Pickerel lake I took today.. The cove to the left of the launch is wide open and the entire back section near the dam is open. The only ice left is near the launch and in the middle.. You guys should be just fine for your tournament this month! I'm jealous!

Will be attempting to launch there tomorrow. Hopefully today's rain will melt the remaining ice.
Forecast for Thursday: 60 degrees, sunny, 5 mph...heck yes. _________________ Kira
