This is a multi-state report!
Sal and I left the house at 3:30am heading for Quabbin Res. in Mass. Got there and headed out
aprox 6:30am. We started pretty close and in no time Sal was getting his first and second
Quabbin fish.
And here they are
Here is a photo of a hole in the ground, submerged and surrounded by rocks. Not sure what it
was from...maybe an old well.
Heres Sal catching another fish.
and Sal with another
I did catch some fish, but nothing really worthy of a picture, yet. Right where Sal caught
that last one was where i had a real nice fish on. It was a nice (4lb?,maybe more) LMB and
pulled me for a couple small runs before getting back near the boat, taking off under the
rear of the boat, as im running around all over the decks .... <<<<< PING >>>>>
Check out this fella who decided we were getting a little to close
Here is my first picture worthy fish. It was getting pretty late in the day, but this started
my catch up run
And next, another numbers advatage
Then, in the last hour, came the lunker of the day
I know, thats pretty sad for lunker, considering whats in the place, but ill take it
Right around that last fish i hear crunching and wonder whats in the woods. Few minutes later
we see this guy standing there at the waters edge, just staring at us
I was kicking myself all day. We should have gone to Pog and tried froggin.... just didnt
turn out to be a very good day. Heres the kicker:)
Sal was falling asleep on the run back south from the far north and i didnt see the grass
hardly sticking up. I knew there was some shallow sandbars in this area, just didnt think i
was ON one of them yet!
Anyways..
We drive out of the lot at 7:30pm with plans already made to hit a lake in Ct on the way home
We get there about 9:30pm and plan on hitting it with jitterbugz, senko's and poppers. Within
the first half hour this stop would prove to make the trip to Mass pretty sucky
Not a half hour after we got there i boated these two:
Heres a 4
Then there was the 5!
YUP, you heard me right. First HALF hour with the jitterbug.
Next, Sal gets the bait fish that fell out of the mouth of the 5 pounder
He then plays around with a 3 pounder.
Another GOOD fish joins the fun
Sals turn,
Next is a couple smallies
Right about here, its midnight and my wife calls. Sal puts her on speaker and we all chat for
a good 45 minutes. Durring this chat we fish, move to another area, fish, then move back
where we were when she called and start fishing that area again. We catch nothing while
chatting
Finaly we hang up the phone and plan on staying not much longer. Within 10 seconds i get a
hit. Here is the result:
I called her right back and yelled at her. I said never to call me while im fishing again
I dont think we got much after that and ended up leaving around 2am.
Got back to the house at the same time i left just 24 hours before _________________ Thar aint NO fish in here !!!!!!!! |

Yeah Jon, if that was rocks or anything other than the gravel sand bar that it was, id be looking for a bottom end Im going for a drain and see if i got any water going in!
The skeg dug in and that was it for the prop. Luckily i was only about half throttle. I knew it came up in that area. The bottom of the boat never hit. Thats number 2 this year already!! First one was a floating tree at gardner on openning day I try and be careful up there in Mass cuz there are sahllows everywhere and now the water is about a foot lower than when i first went there.
And i wasnt in Guilford.
ctfishtalk, whats your name anyways? Im bad with names !
Thats an eagle alright. I couldnt get a good shot of him in the tree and just clicked away with the camera as he took off aross the area to another tree. I got a couple shots in the tree, but you can hardly pick out what it is.
Thank you for the compliments, but i dont feel that deserving I dont think youll learn much from me either You would be about 15 feet away and i am wide enough to hide secrets LOL
Just ask Sal! We worked hard in Mass. I started the day down a few and in the last couple hours i cought up and pulled ahead by several (5?). We put in alot of time. Thats all that you can do, is put in Massive amounts of time.
The night fishing was just the right place at the right time!
If you want to fish with me some time, im sure you would enjoy it. I usualy get smoked by new partners
Maybe its time! Time for a trip up to Mudge for a afternoon froggin and night time buggin?
Dont tell anyone, but those swim docks usualy pay off BIG _________________ Thar aint NO fish in here !!!!!!!! |

Is that really the best picture of me with the 3#er? You flashed that camera in my face like 500 times.
I hate Mudge, don't think I ever caught more than 3 fish all day there. But, maybe I should give it another chance since I bought the frogs now. |

Rookie, my name is Marc... ya, I would totally meet you at mudge. It's only 5 mins from my house. I know lyman would be interested in fishing with ya sometime as well... If you decide to come up for some fishing let me know and i can meet you there at the launch.
I grew up swimming at those swimming docks at the beach...
I always remember being freaked out from the snapping turtles over at that end.... _________________ ~ Marc
