|
|
Hi All!
Well with most waters now building up a thick layer of ice the Oxygen levels are starting to drop and the fish are getting legarthic.
I'm going to start chumming my holes. (Legal in Ct.)
I use cooked Ramaden Noodles (No seasoning and broken into small pieces and looks like waxies or mousies) and I mix in some cat food (seafood mix) for scent.
Have been using this for some time now, and is an old timers trick, which works well to attract the fish
The noodles and cat food wiggles as it sinks!
Best regards,

Hi John!
Oh! I just take a big pinch, maybe the size of 1/2 a golf ball.
Use any fish scent you have with the noodles and see what works best for you!
Like I said -> Old Timer's trick used for decades

Hi tb88!
Chumming in the winter, ice fishing, will draw in everything because food is in short supply and the fish still have to eat.
Chum draws in the little fish then bigger and bigger, etc., etc.

I have seen and used the scales from the minnows to do the same. Scrap some scales off a dead or live minnow down the hole and it will attract fish as well. _________________ The TACKLE HUT - American Made products

I've been thinking about bringing the wife's pampered chef nut chopper and turkey baster out with me. I've always wanted to mince the used bait and put it back down the hole |

Hi mostly ice!
Leave your wife's chopper and T baster alone
Take your leftover bait and any other scents you may have and mix and mush it up at home.
Using an old ice cube tray put a small rock for weight in each cube compartment and then fill with the mush.
Since it's cold out side, leave the tray to freeze then take it with you and drop a frozen cube down each hole.
Mush will thaw, dissolve, and spread scent below each hole.
Oh! You can also put a loop of twine in each cube (before freezing) then with more twine hang the frozen cube at what ever depth you want!
