Caught a total of 8 Fluke, 1 Scate, and 1 Blue Crab. We drifted in the mouth of the CT River from Old Saybrook towards Old Lyme. Made about 4 drifts, 4 of the Fluke were keepers the biggest was 24in and the smallest keeper was 19 all the rest were shorts around 16 inchers. We snagged the scate through the tail, and the Blue Crab was huge about 8in across from tip to tip.
I wanted to head to Long Sand Shoal but because of motor troubles no could do. |

I have NEVER fished the Ct. River; I guess coming from down by new haven I should launch in Old Saybrook at the state ramp under rt 95? I guess this might sound dumb but you said you drifted. Were you past the railroad bridge you can see from 95? Wonderd what to use for bait? Any help would be appreciated; also I never fish tidal waters is it better low or high tide? thanks cmorjoe |
