Went to Dicks Sporting Goods in Manchester this morning at around 5am. I was planning to get a Future Beach Trophy 126 Kayak, and luckly they had a few left. With the help of a coupon from the entertainment book and the Black Friday sale, I paid just $334.86 for the kayak and the paddle. The workers said this is a steal of a deal because the kayak is normally over $400 and the paddle is normally $70. Waking up early definitely paid off.

You couldn't have gotten a more stable or durable kayak. You might look into upgrading your seat, though.

As for a name, I suggest "Jolly Green Giant" or, more appropriately for you, "Sprout". Very Happy

How do you plan to transport her? Your kayak's hull, in particular, is perfectly shaped to sit flat on a car's roof. I saw some closed-cell foam noodles at Ocean State Job Lot that would make perfect roof pads. They're marketed as exercise equipment and are 36 inches long with a "D" profile. The flat side of the noodle would rest perfectly on the car's roof. Two straps over the kayak and through the car, one on the bow and one on the stern, and you'd be all set.

PECo,

As far as transportation goes, it fits perfectly in the bed of our truck, which is a bit easier than getting it on top if a car. It sits well with one strap, and it didn't move anywhere for the 15 minute ride home. I also went out on Union Pond today for a little while, and I was very pleased with it. The ride was very smooth, it was extremely stable, and it traveled well in the 6" deep channel from the boat launch to the pond. Everything about the ride was good, but the seat wasn't. It was uncomfortable, and I definitely need to upgrade. Is there any particular seat you would recommend for it?

Nope, sorry, but I don't have a seat recommendation for you. Fishface (aka Tim) has the same boat and has been talking about replacing his seat all year. Connecticut Outdoors in Oakville has a bunch of different kinds of replacement kayak seats available. It might be worth it to head down there and try out some of them. The owner, Dave Faber, is easy to work with on stuff like that. He has a lot of experience with kayak mods.

How about "The Green Hornet"? You could put an ejector seat in her. Surprised
