Well I kind of figured the -20 degree change in temperature was likely to affect the fishing today, but went anyway. I thought if I was going to be fishing in bad conditions I'd just as soon do it at Lakeville which hopefully would yield better results than other lakes given the same conditions. I fished a tourney last week on Candlewood and the conditions were tough! Plus I was really looking forward to being on Lakeville for its last day of the season.

My son Josh and I arrived at the lake at 7:30 and were on the water by 8:00. We were the first boat to arrive and watched the attendant remove the chain from the launch. Water temps were in the low 50's 51-53 wind originally was probably in the 8-10 mph range to start but was significantly winder as the day went on. For most of the day we were the only boat on the lake. Near the end we did see one other bass boat out more towards the middle of the lake. Managed two smallies, my first ever at Lakeville, one was only 11 inches the other around 13. Both came in 20 FOW on a drop shot rig with a zoom finesse worm in black grape. I only caught one Largemouth but he made the trip worthwhile. He measured 20 inches and weighed in at 3# 14 oz. Again he was in 20 FOW. Caught him on the same bait.

We spent the first 3 hours out on the humps fishing all the way out to 30'. Marked some fish but couldn't get anything to bite. Picked up the short out there. Moved in towards the beach shoreline fishing a very steep drop off where we picked up the other two fish.

Josh was cold and my shoulder which will get fixed over the Thanksgiving holiday was starting to throb so we headed for the launch at noon and were home at 2:00. The camera's in the truck. I'll post the picture later after I finish my message for tomorrow.

Here it is:

Thanks for the report Pappy! It sure is slow this time of year! Glad to hear you got something over 3 lbs.

Nice job.

That figures, though. I never tried a drop shot while getting skunked on Candlewood a couple of days ago. Serves me right, I guess. Confused
