Yesterday after the storm had seemed to past me and one of buddies decided to fish our little secret pond. With it being cold i wasnt sure how well we would do but needless to say we had one of the best days in a while. We landed 5 fish that were over 4lbs and two pushed 5lbs. The best part was we caught the 2 biggest at the same time and had doubles and we were in a canoe. We threw rattle traps and soft jerk baits and the bass just couldnt resist. We caught about 6 other fish that were smaller keepers which made the day even better. If someone could tell me how to upload pictures i have pictures of all the big fat fall largemouth.

Oh, the torture of these secret ponds! Good fishing though. To get to the photo gallery, use the forums button at the top of the page, click photo gallery, and then just follow the buttons/menus on the screen to get to your album and upload photos. There's a tutorial on the forum somewhere, but I couldn't find it and just figured it out by trial and error. _________________ Daryl

"Lake X" reports are frowned upon in this forum. Most of us are here to share information. Posting on the forum to brag is unseemly. If you'd like to join in on the discussion, please feel free to do so. I, for one, would really appreciate it. I could use all of the help I can get. Thanks.
Phil
That said, fishing immediately before or during a storm always seems to be good. I've had some really good days while fishing in the rain. My current hypothesis is that changing barometric pressure is one of the most important indicators of whether fish will be actively feeding. One day, I'll get a barometer and test it out. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hi Phil!
Ditto on the Lake X reports!
I'd put it differently though -> On this forum WE HATE such reports!
Forums are for the "Exchange of Ideas and Information!" -> That is why this forum continues to grow.
If your a member of this forum and can't or unable to make full disclosure posts -> Then DON'T POST! / KEEP YOUR SECRET LAKE X TO YOURSELF

I love your posts. But you fish places where I probably would never go. Although I might see you down in Derby in the Spring.

Hey, thanks. The sooner the better. I'll see you down there in February, then. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

As far as Lake X reports go,
I think there are acceptable situations in which lake x can be used, and there are also situations in which it is completely unneccessary. I think it can be used if, #1, you give as much information as possible without giving out the location of the spot, and #2, if the spot is really local and it really isn't too much better than any other place in the state. Now on to the situations in which it is completely unneccessary:
Clearly, the report in this topic is the kind of lake x report that everyone hates, and you all know why. It doesn't give much information about how the fish were caught(lure colors, depth, retrieves). Thankfully, there arent too many reports like this one on this site, which is exactly why I come here. If anyone wants to post these types of lake x reports, they can go to the other site, where a good 50% of the reports dont give out the location. That's why ctfishtalk has the best ct fishing reports, and not the other site.
And fishingmaniac12,
Dont be discouraged by the posts in response to your report. Next time, just make a report like I described at the beggining of my post, give as much information as possible with out giving out the location of your spot. If people still dont like it then, I say they dont have to read it! _________________ Catch and release only.
