I don't really bother with the bigger lakes either its either the ocean on a hole in the wall pond like Mono or Bishop in a canoe for me _________________

Sevnseat, I prefer both as each one serves me a purpose. When I am tight on time and like you don't want to drag the boat out, then I will fish the little farm ponds, etc. But when I am itching to get out and fish alot of water in as many different types of structure/cover as possible then I will take my 22 footer out and make a long day of it. I agree with you 100% that little bodies of waters probably don't get as much fishing pressure like the big waters do but you can only fish so much of a little pond in a 8-10 hour fishing day. At least with the big rivers and resevoirs you could not possibly fish all the spots you would like to in a day and that's what I like about it. You basically have unlimited options on where to fish. But like you said in order to have that benefit you have to put up with the other fishermen and the crazy pleasure boaters. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

I perfer lakes. Run the boat a little, more of a challenge to find good fish. But on the other hand if I suck out on a lake trip the next trip is to a small pond to rebuild some confidence!

Like both. Take my canoe to some small ponds,Dog, Beaver, Mohawk,Stillwater, usually when I'm tight for time, or when I don't feel like dodging the jet ski's and boaters on Bantam. Often have these small ponds to yourself. An there are some quality fish in them. Still remember the 4 lb LM I got at Herron Pond in Whites Woods, Litchfield. Probably only a couple of acres in size. But you can quickly fish all the good spots in a small pond, so I like the challange of a lake, where the options are many. Either way, always better to be wetting some line somewhere, rather than wishing you were.

The ponds around me are not really very acessable from shore,..and since I don't have a portable watercraft,..it's mainly lakes for me!! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

I love fishing the smaller carry in ponds- give me a 40-70 acre pond with shallow basin and il cream them consistantly.
Bigger lakes are harder but stuff like the dropshot make it easier. |
