Well, I saw the kayak race...I happened to be in the channel in a convenient wide area when they went by me. Thanks for the gate info. _________________ Kira

Nice job Kira! What a fish! I'm still itching to land my first pike. Have paddled up on a few but never had anything for bait they were interested in.
I'm down for a pike trip before it's too cold. Anyone who is interested, count me in. I'm good with either riding in a boat or paddling my kayak. |

Just the ones at the falls. They'd have to be stupid to dive into the rocks from Pachaug Pond above. _________________ Kira

I spent 1 day a week for about 6-8hrs each time for 2 months at Mansfield Hollow without even getting a bite. I fished every cove with a feeder stream. Every cove with shade. Fished the channel, deep weed edges, and the deepest hole in the lake. Tried multiple baits and lures. Nothing! If anybody catches a pike there, I would love to hear about it. Seems like the bass guys catch 1 once in a while but nothing of size. I can't find them. _________________ Go big or go home! |

You could also try Keeney Cove or the Wethersfield Cove...both centrally located but I don't know where you're coming from. _________________ Kira

Both have pros and cons. Wethersfield has great launching and tides won't affect you if you don't wander out into the channel. However, there's boat traffic coming in and out of the river, a seasonal launching fee, and the water can get choppy because it's so round and open. Keeney is a lot quieter, greener, and calmer but it has limited parking, a half-assed launch, shady drinking guys hanging out all the time, and the tides will affect you if you're not paying attention.
Have you tried Union Pond in Manchester? _________________ Kira
