| I think it's just a regular NP baby. Check out this site I found. http://www.nyfalls.com/wildlife/Wildlife-fish-pike.html Scroll down to the NP image it looks almost identical to the one I caught. I guess the spots can run either way on the NP's. |

Having never seen a Chain I now know, very pretty fish, toothy critters here (I'm in MN for a couple weeks) Are Muskie's, Slimmers, (Northern's) and Sewer Trout (Walleye's) Yeah, I'm a River Smallie purest, gonna be doing the Monticello stretch Sunday on the Miss, gets a lot of write up's, waters level is out of control for this time of the year so it's pretty iffy what we find, spring conditions when they're heading to their wintering areas.

I definitely agree with you about the river smallies and I haven't even landed one more than 2 pounds, yet! I got a 3 pounder up to the boat once underneath the Dexter Coffin Bridge, though. I lost it when I held it up next to the boat like it was a wussie largemouth and it thrashed itself right off the 3/4 oz jig! A 2 pound river smallie is like a 4 pound largemouth. . . on PCP!
I'm a Chicago boy, but I envy you the fishing in Minnesota. Go Bears!

DD watch out for the pike/pickerel cross. I've caught them at Bantam very aggresive. Heres a picture
Phil nice job on the 4 pounder. Next time run a brown jig through the stump field way in the back. |

Thanks, Pete, but wouldn't running a jig through the stumps be like dragging an anchor? I guess I'd have to bring a bunch with me. . . and some extra spools of 50 pound braid.

| Not really its hard to determine what is a bite and what is a tree just wait for the line to start moving. I've only lost one jig there out of the 8 trips I've fished there and it was my first trip of the season set the hook on a stump haha. If the grass is still there then don't bother but when there is no grass/weeds a jig always works back there. |

The dead and decaying coontail weed was still sitting all over the bottom like a slimy blanket yesterday, but I'll definitely give jigs a shot when I go back. Thanks.

Last cast, last day two years ago, swim bait, she decided to eat it on the third cast. Actually 20.5 when she wasn't fussing, November 11th I think. Dang it was cold. Caught close to a wintering area that has a history of 20 inch fish. Crossing my fingers as this may be my last trip on the Miss.

I'm no expert, but I know fast water and a bridge piling when I see it! 
I just started learning my way around the Connecticut River this year. Let me clarify that, s-l-o-w-l-y learning. I've been paddling or pedaling one small stretch at a time. But whenever you want to head out, I'm in!

Hi Guys!
I looked and looked at that Pike with the vertical markings and I'm wondering if that might not be a very young "Tiger Musky"!?
When the DEP did the Pike stockings some Tiger Musky smolts could have been mixed in with the batch.

Are you sure???
Coloration, fins, and markings sure match the profile/picture of a Muskie I brought up on the internet.
Guess a fishery biologist would be able to make a positive ID.
