Leaving to Danbury Town Park in an hour. Its going to be my first time fishing there. Any info please. What to use, what fish to expect? Anything. Thank you

| Went there, didnt find a spot to fish, went to Lake Zoar, caught one white perch. SUCKSSSS. I have better luck in my little pond in Greenwich catching stinky sunfish |

I'm hearing your fustration finding decent Ct. waters to fish near to you.
As a suggestion you might consider getting a N.Y. fishing license and see what waters just due north of you in N.Y. are available.

A few thoughts. If your fishing from shore hit the boat launch near the bridge on Lake Lillinonah. You can pretty much start fishing under the bridge and keep working your way up. A ways up there is a submerged road that used to make for nice drop offs. I fished that area with and without a boat.
Not sure about the water level now. Theres many places to fish that lake from shore but hard to explain.
Additionally if you go back in the spring when they lower the water you can see the areas to focus on when the water is at normal level. Take some pictures for a visual reminder.
Lake Zoar: You can fish just below the Shepaug dam where they watch the eagle. I believe the road is called river road. Its minutes from 84.
If you drive around you can find other hidden places, especially if you use GPS to keep steering towards the water.
Before I had a boat I spent years fishing from the woods at the top of the Shepaug. Lots of bass and crappie.

off of Purchase Brook Road there is an old trail that will take you to the water. You can drive in a little ways then its a bit of a hike. The trail takes you to one of those visible coves on the map.
Fishing was always good as most folks didnt know how to get there by land.
I was told the boy scouts used to camp there.

I caught a few of my biggest bass out of Lake Lillinonah around Lovers Leap Bridge
Like the other post tt has been some years since I have been in that area. |
