Please help!

Saturday August 28th, I went to Bashan Lake for the night bite. When I got to the launch I realized I had a flat. I returned Sunday and removed the tire and wheel, but no tire shops were open.

Came back this afternoon to find my 6HP mercury motor and gas tank were stolen. My father gave me that motor, so it had more than monetary value. I was going to buy a cable and padlock yesterday, but I decided to put my faith in thy fellow man. Never cease to be amazed.

If anyone has any info please email me or call.

Thanks,
Charlie

I've never fished at Bashan Lake. I'm like you; I probably would have put my faith in my fellow man. My midwestern sensibilities drive my New Yorker wife crazy. I'm sorry to hear that thieves hang there. I hope that you get your motor back.

Oh, and is that you manhandling a muskie in your avatar photo? Wow!

That really sucks.

Check Craigslist, Ebay and the local pawn shops.

Best of luck finding your motor.

Thanks guys.

PECo Bashan is a beautiful spot. I don't think this incident is typical of the area. I think a random opportunist saw profit in my misfortune.

Yeah that is me in my avatar. Northern Pike I caught out of the Connecticut River.

He's probably the one who flattened your tire. Waited out to see what you were gonna do and took the motor when you left it there. Scum of the earth!! Evil or Very Mad

Very true!! Hey Charlie, that is a nice looking pike in your avatar. Where was that caught?

Caught it on a frozen chunk of mackerel where the Salmon River meets the Connecticut River in East Haddam.

I'm sorry about the motor, It does not matter where you live, where you fish, Someone always out to get something at anothers expense. I firmly go by the what comes around goes around also. Good luck.

Yeah it was definitely close to the state record. I wasn't prepared to take recordings and I didn't want to kill it.

State record:

29lb-0oz Lake Lillinonah, Brookfield Joseph Nett 1980

That record fish looks lucky if it would push 20lbs, forget 29. Guess it was all legit though.

Sorrry about your motor. If you don't believe karma will come back around, take comfort in knowing that there are no thieves in heaven.

Imo you should always have a lock on your motors. There stolen all the time. Common sense tells you to take everything out of your boat when you get a flat or have to leave the trailer behind including motor, battery, trolling motor if you can, rods reels, tackle, fishfinders. If you dont take those common sense precautions then its 75% your fault. It was preventable.

I don't mean to pick a fight, Nickp, but IMHO the theft was 100 percent the fault of the thief. Unfortunately, there are a lot of a$$h01e$ out there. . . .
