I'm planning to hit a good seafood restaurant for dinner, tomorrow, but now I might have to grab some seafood today, too. Thanks! _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Sorry for the dumb question guys because I've only eaten lobsters and never had crabs but what is eaten on a crab.......claws and legs or just the claws?

We usually squeeze the meat out of the legs and crack the claws open to take the meat from there. That provides the "darker" meat with the grayish/brownish tint. Then after removing the shell and all the organs and gills wash the body and remove the white meat from there.
Some people keep the types separate or even just prefer the white body meat but we mix it all together.

Thanks Brian. Didn't know there was anything to eat in the "body".

I used to go crabing with my grandfather when I was a kid. Not sure exactly...somewhere in Brandford near a bridge. We used to catch them on a string and wire circle rigged with Kellys. You would drag them up to the net, scoop.
Of course being Italian....right in the sauce!! My brother and I could catch 25-30
in no time at all. I think maybe I'll take my wife down that way this weekend and give it a try. Never used chicken before...is it best to let the chicken get funky before using it? |

No problem Jim, good luck if you decide to try it.
Stratos, we usually don't let the chicken sit out of the freezer as they will certainly eat it fresh. For this trip we took it out of the freezer Thursday night as we planned on going Friday... and instead we went Saturday. Funky was a good word for it at that point and we did well using it. I would say it's not a necessity but it certainly works well if left out for a day or so. Good luck to you as well if you go.
