Never fished much growing up...always thought it was boring. Went to some local lakes with my young son a couple months ago and caught a couple nice sized LMB. What a rush!...I'm hooked. I haven't thought about anything else but fishing for the last few months and the forum has been a great help. I bought a canoe and outfitted it for fishing and have been spending a lot of time on Ball pond in New Fairfield. I've landed lots of LMB and even a rainbow trout, mostly throwing 5" senkos. During the week I do a lot of fishing at the Saugatuck Res. where I've caught pickerel, catfish, and LMB including my PB of 3.80lbs...no walleye yet though. Anyone else fishing the Saugatuck?

Just wanted to say hi and thanks.

Steve

I haven't fished the Saugatuck, but where did you find the LMB on Ball Pond? I've been there only once early this Spring, but I couldn't find them, except for a great leaping bite that I lost out in the middle of the southern third of the pond. Some DEP guys told me that they electrofished a 26 inch LMB out of there a few days before I went, but one of the local conservation guys told me that it was only 23 inches. Only. Yeah, that sounded stupid to me right after I typed it. I can't wait until I land a LMB that's only 23 inches. Very Happy

Phil-

Love your fishing reports.

That LMB was caught in the Saugatuck, not Ball pond. As for Ball pond, I've had good luck in the far NW corner - from the two floating docks southward along the western shore seems like the hot spot. Also read somewhere that there is a big dropoff right where the outer most floating dock is. They said to dropshot there.

Thanks, Steve. I'll keep that in mind if I head out there again.
