Hit Morey pond from 5:30-8.

Air temp: 80ish
Water temp: no idea
Visibility: 3ft
Weather: rain early then clear skies with no wind
Other boats: NONE!

Started out tossing the jig at the shorline to the right of the launch and quickly picked up a 12" LMB. It hit on the fall. I then caught a dink on a wacky rigged watermelon red flake dinger. Now through the tunnel.

I quickly picked up a 1.5lbr along the highway and missed another one. We move to the northern cove and we start to mark fish in 10fow. I then tried getting the jig down to the bottom, and swimming it back to the boat. I had one good bite doing that, but I couldn't set the hook fast enough. Then my dad hooks up with a good one in 10fow with a wacky worm on the bottom. He gets it up to the boat, and it turns out to be a very healthy 2lb 3oz LMB.

All fish were very healthy looking and also very fat. Not one pickerel was caught, which I guess is a good thing. Very Happy

That's why I love wacky-rigging; no missed hooksets! I'm going to have to try fishing in the evening sometime. I tend to head out in the morning.

Have you tried Texas-rigging a finesse worm with a very light weight this year? I haven't fished Texas-rigged at all, but think a floating worm with a slow fall would be deadly. It would probably present similar to a drop shot.

I have fished texas rigging this year, and I have caught countless fish on it. I have only caught fish on it when I didn't put a weight on it. I think they like that slow fall. A finesse worm with a light weight is a good idea, I will have to try it the next time I go out. I have also heard of people putting finesse worms on jig heads wacky style. Maybe a very light jighead would work well.

I've had success putting finesse worms, senkos, trick worms, flukes, frogs, grubs, creature baits, etc. on any kind of rig....Texas, Carolina, wacky, shaky, unweighted, etc. I'll use split shots if I want my bait to sink but don't want to retie. Just because a jig works in a specific place at a specific time doesn't mean that something entirely different wouldn't work either. My point is that sometimes being in the right place at the right time is all that really matters. I've caught some nice bass on some hideous rigs.

Try putting your soft plastics on backwards too. I'm not even kidding. I'll take a ripped-to shreds worm, cut a few inches off it, fork the tail with some scissors...
