The lower unit of my 60 yamaha where the tube for the speedometer goes in is hoplessly plugged up. I have the pilot tube for the water pickup so the speedo will work again. PROBLEM... do I just drill some holes and mount the pickup? Should I fill the holes with calk before I screw in the water pickup? Any ideas would be a help. THANKS CMORJOE |

cut a pice of marine pvc board (not sure what its really called) and screw that to the stern and mount the speed o to the board.. Caulk around the board and put some on the mounting screws. This is how i did my transducer and it worked out awesome. _________________ Ladies and gentleman take my advice.... pull down your pants and slide on the ice. |

YUP: "Seaboard" is one brand. 3M 5200 around the board and screws/bolts. Board should be thru bolted to hull if transom is Aluminum only, any pickup or transducer should be screwed to the board. 1/2" board should be plenty but you can get it 3/4" or 1" if you like. Just a little overkill.

GPS WILL PROVIDE A SPEED READING A LOT MORE ACCURATE ,IN TENTHS OF A MILE, AND" NO HOLES".....ALSO A COMBINATION DEPTH FINDER , GPS , AND MOST UNITS WILL PROVIDE VOLTAGE READING FOR PRIMARY BATTERY. |
