Decided to hit up some new water this weekend, so we settled on Roger's Lake in Old Lyme.
Got to the lake around 9:15, no other boats at the launch, which is good because the launch area is pretty small. The launch is actually in a small inlet off of the lake which is very shallow.
We started out moving north up the western shore. Fishing started off slow, my buddy got a 12" LMB on a spinner bait, but after that the bite died. We got almost nothing the rest of the day, until the storms started to move in. Just prior to the storms/rain we both picked up 19" LMB in the very southern end of the lake. Mine came in at 3.4 lbs, and his was 3.5 lbs. Both were caught on Yum Houdini Shad plastics. We each grabbed barely legal LMB's right after the storm, and then nothing for the rest of the night.
So it appears that the fish are there, but they didn't seem overly aggressive on anything we were throwing. |

How late did you stay out? Did you try fishing anything slower, like a wacky worm or a jig on the bottom? And where are the photos? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I tried a jig, but the only think I caught was every weed on the bottom of the lake
I've almost never tried a worm wacky rigged, mainly because we tend to fish the lilly pads, docks, etc. And not being weedless means I have a good chance of hooking something I don't want to lol
I just bought a new iPhone 4 and I wasn't about to take it out in the rain to grab a shot of the fish. |
