I went prefishing on beseck on saterday from 6-12 with my buddy, we started across the lake where there is a huge weed flat in about 10 ft got one small hit on a jig.(i think it was a pickerel because my trailer was torn to shreds) After we went down in back and fished the shallower weeds outside lines and insides... nothing, moved out again into the 5 or 6 ft mark droping to 9-10 ft with weeds... nothing there either. After that we went up the cove with the damn fishing the bank, middle of it and the drop off about 5 ft from the banks..... Nothing, We hit the point where the damn comes in for the second time and my buddy had about a 10 in. smallie grab his berkley minnow on a DS. He didnt land it because it jumped off at the boat Sad We worked up the shoreline where the boat launch is because we were now so confused on where to fish, yes we were bank banging and we hate to do it but we had to, We saw one kid catch a sunfish with worms that was it!!!! I cant wait for this tourny where 5 pounds is gonna win it. Laughing

Do you think you might have been fishing too quickly?

I'd try throwing a wacky Yum Dinger and let it sit on the bottom for a while before slowly twitching it. Yum Dingers sink more slowly than Senkos and give lazy fish more of a chance to bite.

I know it's a pain in the ass, but if nothing else worked I'd throw wacky/Texas worms or lightly weighted crawfish right into the middle of the weed beds. Sometimes lazy fish just sit under cover in the shade during the day.

I know this lake... Happy acres....LOL anyways fishing in this lake has slowed down alot dont get me wrong there is alot of fish and i cant tell you where i get them you were close very close to some of them and it holds loads of fish. Just not a place you can have a blast if you want a quick fix. Its like peco says slow it down take the time to where you just want to throw your shit in the water and before you know it banmmm... Still all an all decent lake batterson is way better... would rather go to silver... Try black pond or north farms they have been great latel y wallyworld you need braided for the crappy cover.

Batterson is now infested with weeds and it's a bitch to row due to the constant wind vortex. My motor refuses to go back this year. I did catch a decent bass on a garlic frog today though.

I like weeds and battersons, in the few times I fished it most fish were over 2.
But being a fairly round lake it can be tough to escape the wind at times.

It looks like an entirely different place than it did a few weeks ago. You know I love weeds and pads, but it's now impossible to get near the beach area without getting stuck. See for yourself if you don't believe me.
