Did some shore fishing at middle bolton tonight from 7:30-8:30.

I threw the jig, a black hula popper, and a senko. No bites on the jig. No bites on the popper. Not even a swirl. The only thing they would bite was a 3" senko, nothing on the 4" or 5".

We got 3 LMB on the 3" senkos, watermelon and green pumpkin colors. Two were about 1lb, and to be honest they looked like the same fish. The second time I caught it I could see the hole where I just took the hook out. Shocked

The other largemouth was pretty chunky, and it looked to be about an inch longer than the 1lbr(s...?). It was probably close to 1.5lbs, which is a good fish for middle bolton. Rolling Eyes

It was a fun night, and I was really happy when I found out that we caught more fish than the guys who spent several hours on a boat. Twisted Evil

me an d few of my buddies ended up hitting mid bolton thursday instead of mansfeild and caught like 6 fish each, all bass,bluegill and yellow perch. the bluegill are nuts there, my buddy nailed three olf them on a 5 inch chartruese senko. but we didnt catch anything huge. Good catfishing spot, we got a bullhead with some dead shiners a oldtimer had left behind on the launch

Sounds like you had a good trip. The bolton lakes are alot of fun to fish at with the good numbers of bass and large panfish to be caught. Just dont expect too much of size there Rolling Eyes

.(Although, in the 2008 trophy fish report, a 6.4 and a 6.14 were certified!!!!) Shocked

yea i agree, the bolton lakes are a blast to fish and there beautiful. Never caught any hogs yet, but that dont mean i will stop trying. You ever fish morey pond or batterson? They both are close to me and seem like good spots

I've fished morey twice, and I have not caught a bass or even seen one over 8". I think I might have hit two bad days there. Sad

I have fished batterson three times and I have had pretty good luck there. The biggest fish I have caught there is just 2lbs, but I know there is some size there. I have heard of many 4-5lbrs caught and I talked to a guy yesterday who said he got a 7.1 there a few weeks ago and he lost another 5lbr yesterday morning. He also had a fish straighten his hook yesterday. Shocked

. His only tip to us was to fish the weeds. I later found out that during the day you have to fish the deep weeds. Rolling Eyes

morey seems like a sleeper, idk maybe one day i will hit it up. I like the sound of batterson, im hearing stories of 38 inch pike being pulled out of there. Also, i hear its a good catfish spot to. Thanks for your adivce and responses

The story I've heard is that there's a picture in a nearby bait shop of a guy with a 38 inch northern pike he claimed to have caught in Batterson Park Pond. I don't believe it.

yea its hard to believe, you seem to fish batterson a lot peco, think its worth a trip?

I had a terrible morning the last time I was there. It was extremely weedy where it had been fairly clear a couple of weeks earlier. Since I prefer to throw wacky Senkos or Dingers at cover on the shore, Batterson really isn't for me right now. However, if the urge to swim soft plastic frogs over and through weeds hits me, I might head out there again.

There are some decent largemouth bass in the pond. If you head out there, hit the north half of the eastern shore. It's probably clearer than the west side and bass have always seemed to hold underneath the overhanging trees. The eastern shore drops off to the deepest part of the pond, which is about 20 feet. I'd bet that's where the walleye hold during the day. I'd try dropping a jig down there, too.

If you go back to batterson, especially during the day, try fishing deeper. I went there on sunday and fished the wacky rigged dingers up shallow for close to two hours, and didn't get one bite. Once I moved off of the eastern shore alittle, we started to mark tons of fish in depths of 5-12ft. And they seemed to be grouped together around scattered submerged weed beds. We caught fish when we went over a few on the fish finder and dropped the wacky yum dinger in the spot where we just went over. They hit pretty hard too. Keep in mind this was between 10am and noon! Everyone else I saw there(6-7 boats) was fishing shallow, even though it seemed like the active fish were deep! So...

Pick up a little portable fish finder and search for those submerged scattered weed beds. When you see fish on them, drop your bait right to them! It works!

Hey, thanks for the tip. I've been shopping for a portable fish finder, but I'll probably wait to pick one until after I get a Hobie Pro Angler. I might start a new thread.
