On the water at 7:00. Off the water by 12:30. Water temps 82-84. A slight to stiff breeze most of the time, I'd estimate up to maybe 8 mph. Spent some time behind the island both on the way out and the way in. The resulted in a nice smallie on a tube (black with red fleck) and a nice large mouth on a drop shot (smoke with purple flake finesse worm). Fishing some select spots on the left side down to the commensurate visit to "dock natzi" land. Picked up a largemouth on a shallow running crankbait that I have just jerked free from some weeds. In "dock natzi" land I laded a largemouth from under a dock on the drop shot. To be honest I wasn't that interested in interacting with him so I only made casts to a few very open docks and basically avoid casting near the boats. From there I fished the weedline on the opposite shore again at some selective spots which have produced in the past. One paid off well producing the remaining fish all on the drop shot. All in all 8 fish 5 largemouth 3 smallmouth with 6 being keepers. A solo trip on which I tried to get my camera working via a tripod and a 19 second delay. Followed up with a couple of fish only pics. I'll see how they come out, but they were typical gardner fish with a couple hitting the 2# range, but most in the 1 to 1.5# range. I was surprised there weren't more surface weeds in the back of the lake.

Yet another post that makes me want to try fishing in the eastern half of the state.

I love fishing the lakes in the Eastern half of the state. Too bad they take me 70+ minutes to get to. I really love Beach Pond but that's usually a one trip a year lake because its 90+ minutes for me.

Jerry, Looking forward to Beach. We'll hook up once I get back from vacation. Maybe this time we'll fish out of my boat, which by then will be the new Ranger VX 188 with the Commanche package and a few strategic upgrades. we talked about. Cool

Nice report pappy, good information. Gardner can be tough at times, especially with the boat traffic on that lake.
