I Hit bashan the other day by myself at about 6PM till 11 PM. I started out Drop shotting the weed lines and cought 5 or 6 all about 12-14 inches. After i went over to an unmarked rock not many know about and cought about 6 fish off it most were about 12 but i did catch a healthy 1 3/4 2 pounder all on Drop shot. After i hit a brush pile that i have no idea how it got there i picked up a couple shorts and a fat 3 AND 4 pounder both on the drop shot. Night fishing was a blast i use big worms and a black lipless bait that i painted and cought a good number of fish just bank banging all ranging from 1-4 pounds. I find it weird how the fish stage in 10-20 ft during the day and at night i catch them in literally 6inches- 10 ft. |

I found out this weekend that pike will eat during the middle of the hottest day!!
Maybe you should switch over. If you think that bass pull your kyak, your boat will be leaving a wake if you tie into a decent one. A big one would probably pull you right back to the launch so you won't have to row! |

I'm dying to catch my first northern pike, but I couldn't find "Secret Pike Lake" on a map.

It's listed under an alternate name, Bantam. Takes up less space on the map. _________________ Kira

I have caved in to cyber bullying. Check "Secret Pike Lake" again. By the way PECo, it's an excellent kayak lake.
Carefull though, once you go pike, you never go back!! I was a bass guy all my life untill I started catching pike. Now, catching a 3lb bass is kind of boring.
It is still better than working, though. |

I went fishing this morning, so I can attest to that!
