My son, a friend from work, and myself hit Middle Bolton Lake from 6:30am to about 11:30am on Saturday.
We threw topwater baits to no no avail in shallow water for the first 20 minutes, then we changed gears throwing senkos, tubes, jigs, and a drop shot. We caught a few fish shallow but they were all small keepers. We moved to slightly deeper water with scattered weed beds in 6 to 9 feet and started catching a little better fish on the same baits. The black neon/ red flake senko and tubes took most fish. We got 20 to 25 Bolton specials between us, but our biggest was only a 1 3/4lb largie. Only got 1 slimedart about 10 inches long.
The sun was bright and high, with a slight breeze from time to time.
The water temp was 74 at the start, climbing to 78 by the time we left.
A small basstender was leaving at 8am when we passed them in the first bay, and they said they caught them good on a small fire tiger crankbait, but nothing over 1.5lbs. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |
