Drop shot rig in 20 feet of water. Weighted tubes, chigger craws, worms, and beavers. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

My favorite bait on Winni is a tube. I throw a BPS tender tube #92 on a 1/8oz 4/0 jig head. They love it there!! Pretty cool if you can get a good spinnerbait bite too. If you have a boat, take a ride to Cow Island. That my favorite spot |

I have had pretty good success for smallies around the shoals in the no wake between the Bear Island town dock and Pine Island. Tubes, spider grub, senko and spook....
Fish cove is your best bet close by to Bear for largemouth with a good chance for smallies on the way in. This would also be a good area for worm an bobber fishing for perch and sunnies. |

Drop shot bait has been my best bait. We used to rent a house up there each summer until last year. Also chartered a trip each year with Steve Lucarelli I was the only bait he used. Each trip was very informative and the last trip my son and I boated 38 smallies many weighing 3-4 pounds.
Some of my favorite drop shot baitson Winnie are powerbait leech (black), finesse worm (watermelon red flack, green pumpkin, black grape), and 3" yamamoto worm rigged wacky style (black, green pumpkin).
Hope you have an enjoyable summer vacation. There are some awesome spots in Merideth just off the observation point. |
