Time: 10:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Weather: Mostly Sunny
Air Temp: 85
Water Temp: Unknown
Wind: Moderate SE

We decided to hit up Morey Pond in Ashford on Saturday. With the weather being so nice, I heard that Mashapaug and Quaddick would be really busy with boat traffic. The road into the park is only wide enough for one vehicle, so if you're lucky you won't run into anyone that's coming from the other direction. The launch is concrete, and has a nice slope to it, and parking for maybe 10 cars.

We started off tossing Senko's and my partner pulled in a LMB within 10 minutes of starting. We fished down the east side of the pond and then headed through the culvert into the Eastern side of the pond. The fishing was very quiet along the shore, so we started throwing spinner baits into the middle of the pond and letting them sink to the bottom. A slow retrieve seemed to spark some interest in the LMB and we pulled in 4 more, drifting from one end to the other. Senkos again were working in the small lily pad covered cove in the northwest corner of the big pond, and we pulled a couple more LMB out.

We swapped back and forth between the 2 ponds a couple of times, but we couldn't find anything they were really hitting with consistency. So in the end we pulled out approx 10 LMB a few Chain Pickerel and the biggest Perch I've ever seen, It measured in at 12.5"

If you're looking for a spot that doesn't have a lot of boat traffic, then Morey Pond is definitely a good choice.

Nice to see a report from morey. I grew up fishing that little quiet place many many years ago. We always did well there with rubber worms, spinnerbaits, spider grubs, and topwater baits. I would say 10 cars maybe, but trucks with boat trailers maybe 5 at the most.

Ohhhh, now that I think about it, I recall seeing a low-budget billboard for the Ashford Motel on I-84.

The body of water in front of the billboard is Morey Pond.
