|
|
Hit Silver lake for the first time today from 4:30am-10am. Got three fish in 10 minutes on a smoke flake fluke outside some weeds, and got a few more on a senko underneath some cover. Decided to try and fish the pads for the rest of the time I had with a bronze eye spro frog and a rage toad. Got a total of two strikes and one bullfrog, yes a cannibalistic bullfrog attacked my bronze eye. I guess frogs have no fight, but I was pretty stunned to see this thing on the end of line.
I finished up by drop shotting in the channel that runs through the middle, my fish finder wouldn't stop beeping. I don't know if it was glitcy or if I just found everybass in this lake... There was alot of fish there though I got maybe 20 hits on the ds in 10FOW at this spot and landed only 3 due to me being to hookset happy, the tactic is still new to me in my defense. Nothing over 16" for the day

Silver lake has some great fishing. open and cover not that deep tho. Tend to think it has the best crappie fishing in ct but thats just my opinion. For bass they have some big ones in there but seem to catch more small ones than big ones. No one i know keeps fish out of there so i know they are in there. think silver lake in berlin has better fishing than batterson hands down tho...... |

When the fishing is slow, I will pitch a plastic worm to frogs and they hit them very aggressively. If i catch a frog, I live line it and the fishing usually comes to life. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

@panfishh8r : so the hook only goes through the jaw?
btw got skunked for the first time in months. couldnt find the fish anywhere. my buddy caught a short (10in) and that was all for the day. i had a couple nice hits but i only managed to hit my buddy with the worm in the face as he was eating (really funny to do) |

True Silver Lake does have a healthy supply of crappies there but I wouldn't eat anything out of there due to the higher levels of industrial chemical waste that sits on the lake bottom.

Well I wouldn't exactly say nobody as I have seen the bucket brigade there take bass, perch and crappie out of there for dinner. Just hope they know the hazards of doing that at a place that is contaminated. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!
