Hi my name is Rob. I live in the Hartford area. I have been fishing all my life, but over the last 10 years or so it has only been for trout. I have only been out couple of times each year for that matter. Recently I have been bitten bad by the fishing bug.
I missed Opening Day this year with a stomach illness and it nealry killed me not to go out for those trout..
So far this year, I have been down to the DEP docks twice for stripers and have only caught one 26 incher.
Most of my friends do not go fishing. I have tried to get them out there to no avail. I don't know if they are afraid of worms or the 4am time I would be knocking on their door to pick them up.... So I am looking to meet a few fishing pals. I am willing to meet up with other fisherman when I can (weekends mostly) to learn new fishing techniques, bait, tackle, and catch a few different species. As you can probably tell by now, I do not have a boat. So until I get one, I am guess I am a shore fisherman (Unless someone is short a person and would like a fishing partner to go with them on their boat).
I look forward to learning from all of you and looking at those great photos PlopPlop.
Thanks,
Rob _________________ I'd rather be fishing, than sitting here in front of this computer,,, |

welcome to the board, you came to the right place by the sounds of what you're looking to gain from this place.
Many people will be happy to take you aboard there boats, just check out the fishing partners forum located on the forum index main page. People will frequently post when they are going out and if they have room. I have met a number of members this way and made some good relationships with them. _________________ Screw work....I wanna fish

Thanks PD.
I have read a lot of the different posts on this site and many ,if not all of you, seem to be truley gifted fishermen. I look forward to be a contributing member of this forum and hope in time to be able to catch as many fish as some of you. _________________ I'd rather be fishing, than sitting here in front of this computer,,, |

I go to the CTR river around the East Hartford boat launch, I like to go to Bolton lake when i have the time.
I have gone to the DEP docks a couple times, i never catch nothing though. So i walk in the same shoes as you do though.
I stumble my way to a few different places every now and then. Bolton is one of my usual places along with the Ct river.
I am looking to expand my Repertoire of fishing lakes. _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

Hey ROBO, nice picture at the DEP docks, is that the spot where you caught the striper? My personal experience and opinion fishing the DEP docks for over 10 years, your better off going farther down the dock until you get to the corner of the dock where there CT River meets the Lieutenant river, you can actually see the spot in your picture. Theres a nice flat that runs a good distance out from the dock that alot of stripers work, as well as to your left the lieutenant river is deep right there. Bring two nice rods and fish both spots til you find the fish Down there with Bunker Chunk/Eels at night time, you'll rape them. In August, around sunset, 100's of blues come in and you can limit out off that corner. WELCOME AND GOOD LUCK |
