Went to the river Saturday at 5:30 am. Went out for the first time fishing with Senkos (5" Black w/Purple Flake). Took along my trusty White and Pumpkinseed spinnerbaits My plan was to target LMB with the Senkos. I fished the lower half going to the lake. I think I caught about 18 total fish 10 which were LMB ranging from 12" to these two nice ones. I guess that all types of fish like this bait, Rock Bass to Yellow Perch. The smallest fish was a 4" Rock Bass. It was funny to see 4" of worm sticking out of it Pie Hole. Also caught a couple of Pike nothing of any size to talk about. Most Bass were taken around submerged timber. It took 2 or 3 fish to get the strike down, but all fish were released unharmed. The pole I was using the reel had red line and I could not pick up the line moving. Thought it was the Kayak moving. Wanted to thank Skeeter Jim for some insight in rigging with the o-rings. I had a hour to kill last night. So I had to see if the Senko fishing was beginners luck so I went to Batterson and picked up 2 LMB about a 1.5 lbs each.

I went through a bag of Senkos yesterday. Maybe I'll give that o-ring thing a try. . . .

Phil you got nothing to lose. Senkos are extremely effective lures but being so salt laden they are very fragile once hooked through the body and will break even after one strike. Now to reduce your cost using stick baits you could either buy another brand which are cheaper or go with the O-ring setup to further the life of the bait hence increasing your fish per bait ratio. As someone previously mentioned heat shrink tubing would work also but being a non-smoker I do not carry a lighter when fishing.

Nice looking fish there.

I picked up for $15 the box of 73 in varying sizes and colors from the Cabela's site a few weeks ago cause I love them for bass. I was actually surprised with the quality as it seems just as good as the $5 bags I used to buy that only had 6 worms in them.

Nice fish you got there, I too just started the heat shrink idea. I actually caught about 8 bluegill/panfish on 4" senkos at bolton lake, some fish being shorter than the bait!

Wish I was closer to the bantam river, looks like some nice fish are in there.

OMG.....!

SkeeterJim is taking credit for the O-Ring trick? YOU LOSER!

I started using that years ago. I am so coming down stairs and kicking your butt... Mad

Here an addictional trick JIM didn't tell you... Go to an Industrial supply store (Grainger, MSC, Fastenal) to buy the O-rings. You will pay $4.00 for about 50 each. If you go to a bait shop you'll pay $5,0 for 10 each. You didn't tell them that Jim, did ya... Shocked

I am just glad that Jim learned something from me and is passing on the knowledge.

Tight lines guys.

I'm sure it's an old trick and it'a also in last months Field & Stream as one of their tips from a bass guide or something. He also recommends putting a brad nail into the head of the worm for a little more weight (just cut off the nail head first)

It is a good tip though and I'm definitely going to give it a go.
