Anyone know any good spots in Bristol???

I don't know any "legal" spots in Bristol but would be interested in knowing what you find out because I work in Bristol. Maybe someone will answer if your question is more specific. Are you looking for a place to fish with a boat or from land?

I live in Bristol. There isn’t much to fish here. There is Birge Pond. I’ve been told by 3 different people that there are huge carp, and bass in there. I’ve fished there 2 dozen times in the past 2 years and only caught little catfish. They are in the process of cleaning up the lake. New parking, new board walks around the lake, no more dam house. It actually looks nice.
Then there are the lakes behind Marinelli's Super Club just over the Bristol Burlington boarder. Someone from this forum caught a good size bass there this spring, but all I’ve ever caught there was angry pickerel. The walk around is nice though. Take a look on Google Earth. Vicious Pete and I walked all over those woods and only caught pickerel.
Lake Compounce holds some fish too. I don’t know what. I’ve never fished there. Way back in the day we were hanging out there in the woods, being juvenile delinquents, waiting to go into the Clash Of The Titians concert there, and Jerry Cantrell from the band Alice In Chains walks right past us. He was fishing. How cool was that? Now that’s the way to fish. New town and new water every day.
There is Lake Winfield in Terryville. I caught a bass there when I was a kid, but I don’t think its worth fishing these days. I saw some trout hanging out near the dam last year.
There is Scoville res in Wolcott. I’ve had some good luck there too. Small and large mouth there.
I think that’s about it for this town. I remember hearing about some fish in the Pequabic River when I was a kid, but I highly doubt it. The factory in Terryville killed that river. The rocks and water behind the factory was actually orange and red. I used to tromp around those woods as a kid. And I used to work 3rd shift years back, and had to walk along that river to get to work, and it smelled so bad some nights it would make me gag.
I’m pretty sure that’s about it for public fishing. I know of private property fishing around here, but your on your own there.

I have fished every place in Bristol and surrounding towns in the past. everywhere mentioned has or had bass. The Pequabic is very clean now and I have caught some nice trout in there (catch&release). The local golf course ponds have some really nice bass in them. I used to fish those when I was a kid. Other than Birge pond and Pine Lake there isnt much for legal pond fishing .

Whoa, Whoa Whoa, First of all Drawnon, you cannot fish lake compounce, without permission, They just busted a fisherman there and had him arrested for trespassing, they have cameras now that scan that whole lake, its not worth it, and the quality of fish in there is nice but not great, behind Marrinellis is also no trespassing, my buddy got a ticket there, Lake Garda is town residents only, DEP does patrol it , Birge pond has lots of small fish, I caught a nice bass one night there about 5.5lbs, lots of carp, my son fishes for carp there and does pretty well, It is legal to fish there, Its not worth getting busted, so just check before you go.

Pond is aight fishing... Decant. know some better ones out there... But have fun going there. Your from Avon... hmmm lets see is wallingford to far for ya? do you have a boat? New Hartford what is it compensating res... great place to fish alot of species...

By Compensating Reservoir, do you mean Lake McDonough (i.e., the lower reservoir)? I've been on Barkhamsted Reservoir, but didn't realize you could fish on Lake McDonough. Thanks for the tip.

Regarding Birge...on a hot sunny day, take your kayak to the far end and head for the reeds on the left side. Approach quietly, it's very shallow there...and position the kayak so it will at least partially seal off the entrance to the top secret turtle fortress. The turtles have quite a nice little hidden alcove with only one exit (the one you'll be blocking.) When you see hundreds of turtles scrambling in all directions in panicky turtle freak-out mode you'll understand why I'm recommending it. It's got the awesomeness equivalent of catching a 4 lb bass (which isn't too likely at Birge.)

Yea phil they are both one why two names? That place has great fishing but will charge you to fish pretty soon. Even for kayaks which sux cause they charge for each kayak and for parking which i thought was pretty gay when they cam off the same car.... Big fish LMB and SMB LT CP think pretty much everything is in there...I fish from kayaks too nothing special just Costco special with some mods for beer and rods...

Yeah, my father-in-law paid for parking and I paid for both of our kayaks when we were there. That kinda sucked, but the lake is beautiful. From looking at the satellite imagery, I think we didn't paddle far enough up the channel to the northwest.

yeah its great in there but from kayak it is a haul in a half to get somewhere decent. dont know why you cant get your ticket and launch somewhere else... after all you arent damaging anything...
